How to Move Your Phones to New Proxy Software

Move one unsold phone first and leave it for a few days. Then move the rest in small batches, give each customer their new endpoint before their phone switches, and cancel the old tool only once the last phone's run clean.

Why the order matters

A phone can't run two proxy apps side by side, so every move is a hard cutover for whoever's using that phone. You can't make it seamless. You can make it predictable, and small enough that a mistake costs you one batch instead of the fleet.

The order that keeps customers online

  1. 1

Move one phone nobody's paying for

Pick a phone that isn't sold, uninstall the old app, install the new one and leave it alone for a few days. A demo proves setup works. Only time proves it recovers after the carrier drops it at 3am, and recovery is what you're buying.

  2. 2

Redo the phone settings, they don't carry over

Battery optimisation exemptions, auto-start permissions and any brand-specific power saver belong to the app, not the phone. The exemption you gave the old app does nothing for the new one, and a phone that goes quiet overnight is almost always this.

  3. 3

Give customers the new endpoint before you switch

The SIM stays put, so the carrier IPs don't change. The host, port and login do. Send each customer their new details with a time, then move their phone at that time. A customer who finds out from a failed request is a customer who starts shopping around.

  4. 4

Move in batches, not all at once

Five or ten phones at a time, with a day between batches. If something's wrong with the new setup, you find out on a handful of phones instead of the whole fleet.

  5. 5

    Cancel the old tool last

Keep paying for the old software until the last phone has moved and run clean for a few days. It's the cheapest insurance you'll buy, because rolling a phone back is just reinstalling the old app.

The battery settings are where most first moves go wrong, and they differ by brand. Owner Mode setup covers the settings that keep our app awake on phones you don't touch.

What switching won't change

  • Your IPs. They come from the carrier behind the SIM, and the SIM doesn't move.
  • Your carrier's quirks. If a network is slow at peak hours now, it'll be slow on the new app too.
  • Which targets block you. Reputation follows the IP range, not the software in front of it.

So if one of those is the reason you're moving, you probably don't need to. The software decides uptime, recovery, protocols and price. The SIM decides everything about the IP. iProxy alternatives, by architecture goes through when a move is worth it, and the XProxy version covers leaving USB tethering behind.

The overlap month is the expensive part

Doing it the safe way means paying for two tools while phones move across, and that month is why people put the move off. We sell proxy software, so weigh this accordingly: if you're moving to us, every phone you bring gets its first 30 days of our Business plan free, with no cap on phones and no card on file. That covers the overlap.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run two proxy apps on the same phone?

Not reliably. Most phone proxy apps, ours included, run as an Android VPN, and Android only allows one VPN at a time. Even where both would start, they'd fight over the same mobile data connection. Uninstall the old app before you install the new one.

Do I need to factory reset a phone before moving it?

No. Uninstalling the old app is enough. A reset only makes sense if the phone was rooted or had system-level tweaks for the old tool that you no longer want.

How long does it take to move one phone?

A few minutes once you've done the first one: uninstall, install, pair, then redo the battery settings. The time goes into the customer side, agreeing a cutover time and sending new credentials, so batch that work rather than doing it phone by phone.

Will my IPs change when I switch software?

No. The addresses come from the carrier behind the SIM, so the same SIM gives you the same pool on any app. If your IPs are getting blocked, changing software won't fix it, changing SIM plan or carrier will.
